Hypnotherapy is different from other therapies. It is drug free and there is no physical manipulation.
The subconscious mind can be a force to be reckoned with and it can lead us to behave in ways which do not serve us any purpose. We push our worries and concerns into our subconscious and those anxieties reveal themselves in ways that impact upon how we function. Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the client and therapist work together to focus on the changes that the client wants to make in their life.
Beneficial results are often achieved faster than with other therapies because we do not focus on the problems: we focus on the goals that the client wants to achieve. The client will be given a good understanding of how the brain can impact on our lives, sometimes making us feel out of control, powerless, not in our right mind, a bit numb and dissociated, even wanting to hide away.
Using the tool of hypnosis, the therapist guides the client into a relaxed state enabling direct access to their subconscious mind. This is where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed. Using positive suggestion and imagery the therapist can focus on the behaviours that the client wishes to change.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is the bringing together of the conscious and subconscious minds in a trance state. It is a safe, powerful technique creating a deeply relaxed state of the body, mind and emotions. It is also a perfectly natural state that we are often go into during our everyday lives i.e., whilst reading a book, watching television, or doing repeated tasks. The therapist guides you into a relaxed trance state by the sound of their voice. It is not sleep.
